38.1 Imagine that you are doing a project on where Zetlanders prefer to spend a Saturday evening. You have found some data on the subject — the results of an opinion poll. Comment on the data in the table and give your opinion on the subject of the project.
38.2 Imagine that you are doing a project on what qualities Zetland employers appreciate most in their employees. You have found some data on the subject — the results of an opinion poll shown in a pie chart. Comment on the data in the pie chart and give your opinion on the subject of the project.
For either task, follow this plan: make an opening statement; select and report 2–3 facts; make 1–2 relevant comparisons and give your comments; outline a problem that can arise and suggest a solution; conclude by giving and explaining your opinion.

5 шаговChoose task 38.1 and begin by identifying the subject of the poll: Zetlanders’ preferred places for spending a Saturday evening.
Report the main figures: restaurants and cafés are chosen by 37% of respondents, parks by 34%, sports centres by 15%, hobby clubs by 9%, and theatres or museums by 5%.
Make comparisons: restaurants or cafés are only 3 percentage points more popular than parks, whereas they are 32 percentage points more popular than theatres or museums.
Mention a possible problem, such as crowded popular places or a lack of affordable leisure facilities, and suggest booking in advance or developing more accessible local activities.
Conclude with a personal opinion. A balanced answer may state that spending the evening in a park is best because it is relaxing, inexpensive and suitable for socialising.
