Choose only one of the two projects below and write a 200–250-word response.
Project 38.1. Imagine that you are doing a project on young Zetlanders and culture. You have found some data on the subject — the results of a survey conducted among Zetland teenagers. Comment on the survey data and give your opinion on the subject of the project.
The survey question: What can motivate you to go to the theatre more often?
Project 38.2. Imagine that you are doing a project on football as a popular hobby in Zetland. You have found some data on the subject — the results of a survey conducted among Zetland teenagers. Comment on the survey data and give your opinion on the subject of the project.
The survey question: Why do you play football? According to the pie chart, 35% of the teenagers play football to learn to play in a team, 30% to keep fit, 22% to become professional footballers, 7% to meet new friends and 6% to spend free time.
Use the following plan for Project 38.1:
– make an opening statement on the subject of the project;
– select and report 2–3 facts;
– make 1–2 comparisons where relevant and give your comments;
– outline a problem that can arise for teenagers not interested in cultural events and suggest a way of solving it;
– conclude by giving and explaining your opinion on theatre-going as a free time activity.
Use the following plan for Project 38.2:
– make an opening statement on the subject of the project;
– select and report 2–3 facts;
– make 1–2 comparisons where relevant and give your comments;
– outline a problem that one can face when doing sports and suggest a way of solving it;
– conclude by giving and explaining your opinion on why it is important to play team sports for teenagers.
In your answer, follow the conventions of a personal letter or essay-style report, use linking devices and write 200–250 words.
