Choose only ONE of the two tasks below and write a 200–250-word response according to the plan.
Task 38.1. Imagine that you are doing a project on why many young Zetlanders choose a military career. You have found some data on the subject — the results of a survey. Comment on the survey data and give your opinion on the subject of the project. The survey question was: “Why have you chosen a military career?” Select and report 2–3 facts, make 1–2 comparisons where relevant and give your comments, outline a problem that can arise for military academy students in the course of their studies and suggest a way of solving it, and conclude by giving and explaining your opinion on the importance of developing a strong feeling of national pride in young people.
Task 38.2. Imagine that you are doing a project on Zetlanders’ summer trips. You have found some data on the subject — the results of a survey. Comment on the survey data and give your opinion on the subject of the project. The survey question was: “What is the aim of your summer holiday this year?” Select and report 2–3 facts, make 1–2 comparisons where relevant and give your comments, outline a problem that can arise with a beach holiday and suggest a way of solving it, and conclude by giving and explaining your opinion on what the most exciting summer holiday is.
In your answer, use the number of the chosen task. In Task 38.1, the survey results are: patriotism — 48%, public significance — 20%, leadership opportunities — 18%, family tradition — 9%, adventure — 5%. In Task 38.2, the survey results are: visiting relatives and friends — 33%, having a nice beach holiday — 29%, seeing new places — 20%, enjoying nature — 12%, having an adventure — 6%.
