Choose only one of the two tasks below and write a 200–250-word answer according to the plan.
Task 38.1. Imagine that you are doing a project on why many young Zetlanders choose the medical profession. You have found some data on the subject — the results of a survey. Comment on the survey data and give your opinion on the subject of the project. The survey question was: “Why have you chosen a career in medicine?” The results of the second survey are shown in a pie chart: hiking — 37%, shopping — 26%, watching TV — 22%, playing board games — 12%, housework — 3%.
Task 38.2. Imagine that you are doing a project on the activities Zetland teenagers prefer to do with their parents. You have found some data on the subject — the results of a survey. Comment on the survey data and give your opinion on the subject of the project. The survey question was: “What activities do you prefer to do with your parents?”
For either task, follow the plan: make an opening statement on the subject of the project; select and report 2–3 facts; make 1–2 comparisons where relevant and give your comments; outline a problem and suggest a way of solving it; conclude by giving and explaining your opinion.

In Task 38.1, outline a problem that students of medicine may face during their course of studies and suggest a way of solving it. In Task 38.2, outline a problem that can arise when teenagers spend their free time with their parents and suggest a way of solving it. In the conclusion for Task 38.1, explain the importance of doctors in today’s world. In the conclusion for Task 38.2, explain the best way for teenagers to spend their free time.

For Task 38.1, report that helping people is the main reason for choosing medicine (48%), while passion for biology accounts for 20% and public significance for 18%. High salary and job stability are less important motives, at 9% and 5% respectively.
For Task 38.2, report the most and least popular activities: hiking (37%) is the leading choice, whereas housework (3%) is the least popular. Shopping accounts for 26%, watching TV for 22%, and board games for 12%.
