Study the two photographs. In 1.5 minutes be ready to compare and contrast the photographs. Give a brief description of the photos, say what the pictures have in common, say in what way the pictures are different, say which of the places presented in the pictures you’d prefer to live in and explain why. You will speak for not more than 2 minutes (12–15 sentences). You have to talk continuously.

Both pictures show people outdoors in places connected with everyday life. In the first photo, a girl is standing near an old wooden building in the countryside. She is holding a watering can, so she may be helping with gardening. The place looks quiet, green and rather traditional. In the second photo, a woman is standing on a viewing platform above a large modern city. She is wearing a warm coat and seems to be enjoying the view. Both people are outside, but the surroundings are very different. The first picture shows a peaceful rural area, whereas the second one shows a busy urban environment with many high-rise buildings. The countryside seems less crowded and probably less noisy. On the other hand, the city offers more jobs, shops and cultural activities. Personally, I would prefer to live in the city shown in the second picture. I like having many opportunities nearby, although I would sometimes visit the countryside to relax.
