Volunteering is often considered an important part of teenagers’ lives. However, some people believe that young people should concentrate only on their studies and personal interests. In my opinion, volunteering is essential for teenagers.

Firstly, voluntary work teaches young people to be responsible. When teenagers help elderly people, collect donations or take part in environmental projects, they understand that their actions can influence other people’s lives. Secondly, volunteering allows them to gain useful experience. They can improve their communication, teamwork and organisational skills, which may be helpful in their future career.

Nevertheless, there is another point of view. Some people think that teenagers are already busy with school and should spend their free time resting. They also believe that unpaid work is not worth the effort because young volunteers do not receive money.

I cannot agree with this opinion. Volunteering does not necessarily take much time, so it can be combined with studying. Moreover, the experience and personal satisfaction gained through helping others are valuable even without financial payment. Teenagers can also choose projects that match their interests and participate in them when they are free.

To sum up, I strongly believe that volunteering is essential for teenagers because it makes them more responsible, sociable and prepared for adult life.
