Comment on the survey data and give your opinion on the subject of the project. The survey question was: “What do you think should be done to improve living conditions in the countryside?”
38.2 Imagine that you are doing a project on jobs for young professionals in Zetland. You have found some data on the subject — the results of a survey conducted among young Zetlanders. Comment on the survey data and give your opinion on the subject of the project. The survey question was: “What is the main reason why it is difficult for you as a young professional to find a job?” The results were: little professional experience — 30%, low foreign language proficiency — 28%, lack of qualifications — 24%, salary expectations are too high — 10%, high competition — 8%.

The aim of my project is to find out what should be done to improve living conditions in rural areas of Zetland. I have analysed the results of a survey conducted among Zetland school students.
According to the table, the most popular answer is building hospitals and schools, chosen by 48% of respondents. Improving internet access comes second with 20%, while 18% of the students believe that more cultural events are needed. Only 9% support building sports facilities, and developing public transport is the least popular option, with 5%.
It is worth mentioning that the number of students who want new hospitals and schools is 2.4 times higher than the number of those who support better internet access. Moreover, cultural events are considered important by almost twice as many respondents as sports facilities. These figures show that young people are mainly concerned about essential services rather than entertainment.
One possible problem of living in the countryside is the distance from medical centres and schools. This problem could be solved by investing in local infrastructure and introducing regular buses to nearby towns. Better internet access could also make remote education and medical consultations possible.
In my opinion, the first priority should be building hospitals and schools. These facilities are essential for people’s health and education and would make rural areas more attractive places to live.
