Choose only one of the two tasks below and write a project-related response. Task 38.1: Imagine that you are doing a project on why many young Zetlanders choose to major in technical studies. You have found some data on the subject — the results of a survey. Comment on the survey data and give your opinion on the subject of the project. The survey question: Why have you chosen to major in technical studies? Task 38.2: Imagine that you are doing a project on the young Zetlanders’ values. You have found some data on the subject — the results of a survey. Comment on the survey data and give your opinion on the subject of the project. The survey question: What is the most important thing in life for you? In Task 38.2, the survey results are: loving family — 33%, true friends — 29%, interesting job — 20%, much money — 12%, beautiful house — 6%.

Write 200–250 words. Use the following plan: make an opening statement on the subject of the project; select and report 2–3 facts; make 1–2 comparisons where relevant and give your comments; outline a problem that can arise and suggest a way of solving it; conclude by giving and explaining your opinion on the importance of choosing the right profession or on what the most important thing in life is.

For Task 38.1, report the leading and least popular reasons: interest in technology accounts for 48%, whereas practical skills development accounts for only 5%. Also mention that public significance and high salary are chosen by 20% and 18% respectively.
Compare the figures: interest in technology is more than twice as popular as public significance, and the difference between the most and least popular reasons is 43 percentage points.
Describe a possible problem after graduation, such as a lack of practical experience, and suggest internships, university projects or cooperation with employers as a solution.
Conclude that choosing the right profession is important because it affects motivation, career development and personal satisfaction.
A successful response should contain 200–250 words, follow the required plan, refer to the survey data, include comparisons and comments, and end with a justified personal opinion.
